Welcome
to the
Sacred Places Festival
We hope you will
decide to visit this lovely part of Sussex and see what our lovely
churches have to offer.
Although there may have been
Christians here in Roman times, a continuous history of Christianity
began in Sussex in 681, when St Wilfrid came from the north to teach the
Christian faith to the people living here. While some of our churches
have Saxon foundations, there are also superb examples of Norman,
Gothic, medieval and modern architecture and church building continues
to this day. We have stunning churches for you to visit and members of
the congregations who are eager to share their history with you. |
